Bio

A two times published author and FJones Award winner, Evrah Rose has gained popularity and prominence nationally from her hard hitting poetry and fearless energy. Unapologetic in her delivery, Evrah has built her reputation bringing serious issues to the forefront, releasing a number of spoken word films racking up over 5 million streams. Influenced by artists such as; Tupac Shakur, Stacey-Ann Chin and Kae Tempest, Evrah amalgamates her passion for social justice, rhythmic storytelling, Hip-hop, ambiance and poetry – creating music and spoken word that is raw, conscious and dynamic.

Evrah has featured on both TV and Radio across the BBC, The Times, BBC Sport and ITV – with live radio features from Adam Walton, Janice Long and Huw Stephens. As well as presenting a Radio 5 Live episode for their FIFA World Cup build-up coverage. Evrah was selected as a BBC Bitesize panel member for the BBC’s centenary UK tour 2022, visiting secondary schools in Wales to discuss and inspire careers in storytelling.

Evrah has enjoyed residencies at both Wrexham AFC and Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham. Her creative commissions include; Chwarae Teg, Shelter Cymu, Wrexham AFC (international Women’s Day celebration) Homestart and The Bevan Foundation.  Evrah has worked with a number of organisations including primary and secondary schools, colleges and higher education institutions to provide creative writing workshops engaging in a positive outlet of expression to promote a positive sense of self, and emotional well being. As someone who’s suffered extensively with her health, Evrah is working with health and social care professionals and creatives to develop holistic well-being services that empower individuals.

Evrah has performed and headlined events throughout the UK from Spoken Trend, Birmingham, Apples and Snakes, Durham, The Homeless World Cup and Hub Festival in Cardiff, to the Cae Ras Football Stadium before a crowd of 7000 Wrexham AFC fans. Supporting well-known artists from Sabrina Benaim (Button Poetry) to Beans on Toast.

Working alongside Gŵyl y Ferch, Evrah’s poetry film ‘Will You Be Coming Back?’ was exhibited at Oriel Mon Gallery, Llangefni to raise awareness of domestic violence occurring in same-sex relationships. In November 2022, Evrah featured in Welsh Women’s Aid, ‘Live Fear Free’ film campaign (supported by White Ribbon UK and the FAW) to highlight and take a stand against gender-based violence.

In 2022, Wrexham launched its Wrecsam 2025 – UK City of Culture bid for which Evrah wrote and performed the launch bid film, ‘La, We Are Wrecsam’ featuring Welsh beat boxer and rapper, Mr. Phormula. Working alongside various members of the community, play teams, Wrexham County Borough Council and local artists; Evrah was one of the creators of ‘Chwarae Geiriau’ a 3 day art and play event in the town centre. Redeveloping and re-purposing the long derelict Hippodrome site on Hendlblas Square. It is now an area that will host many community events long into the future. Wrecsam secured a top 4 final place.

Her debut album, Kind Regards. – released independently in December 2021 saw it’s first two releases heading straight to BBC Radio, along with the album continuing to be featured heavily on BBC Introducing, Wales.

In May 2023, Evrah founded Red Roach Records. A community focussed record label and music distributor prioritising the growth and careers of Wrexham based talent, offering bespoke supportive packages to reduce financial barriers and increase creative opportunity.
